Benefits of kind living

Seemingly simple activities can produce great benefits for ourselves and those around us. Work these acts of kindness into your daily routine for increased mental and physical wellbeing.

Beach with benefits

We all know about the beach body, but what about the beach brain? Spending time at the beach can help rejuvenate and relax your mind.

Get your mind in shape with these simple beach activities:

1) Listen to waves crashing on the shore. The low, rhythmic sound of waves crashing on the shore is the perfect soundtrack to lull you into a meditative state.

2) Stare out at the sea.  The color blue has been shown to boost creativity!

3) Breath in the sea air, and feel the sand between your toes; ocean breezes and warm sand are the ultimate stress relief.

Smile. Pass it on.

Smiling is a language that everyone understands. Smiling not only elevates your mood by lowering stress levels, it also helps maintain positivity. Smiling is highly contagious and the benefits of your smile extend beyond you to the people around you!

No matter where you are in the world you can help spread positive vibes with a smile. Try smiling at the person next to you and help brighten their day!

Get your hug quota

Everybody needs a hug once in a while! Hugging is an important part of human connection, providing a sense of belonging, relaxation, while freeing you from anger and stress. They can help you relax muscles, strengthen your immune system and balance your nervous system. Hugs help you focus and be present in the moment, which is increasingly important in our busy, fast-paced lives. “We need four hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth.” -Virginia Satir, a respected family therapist.  While we’re pretty sure people have survived on less than four hugs a day, it’s cool to think about.

Regardless, hugs are good for the body and good for the mind. Get your daily quota by taking a few moments out of your day to hug someone and help spread the happiness and good health!

High five a friend

Did you just watch your friend do something extraordinary? Or are they about to get rad and need a little extra motivation? Give them a high five and let them know they rock. Acknowledging others is a great way to share appreciation and show gratitude.  🙏 Finding the right words to encourage or praise people can be hard. Next time you are struggling with what to say just throw your hands up and give ‘em some skin. A high five can say it all.
