Tell us about yourself, Adrienne!

I live in Carlsbad, CA, but I was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA. When I left for college I moved to Davis, CA, then explored and moved to Florida for a bit, then graduated school in Denver CO. I did my residency in San Diego and have been here in the area ever since!

Fun fact is that I had the opportunity to play soccer in Europe when I was 14. I was invited on a local team to represent the USA and we got to play in Austria and Italy one summer. The best part was playing in a huge stadium and we felt like professional soccer players – kids gave us stuffed animals and the European chanting during the game was echoing off of the mountains and that is one thing I will never forget!

What is your definition of a kind human?

To me, a kind human is one who is accepting of everyone and is open to differences. They see the small things in life that bring joy and happiness and try and share that with others. It could be anything from helping someone who maybe dropped something to sharing a meal, or to raising awareness for an amazing cause that helps better not only people, but animals.

What inspires you to be kind and give back?

“I think for me, it’s knowing that if I was on the other side of the coin, I would want someone to do whatever it is for me, so why not do it for someone else? It starts a wave of kindness that is infectious.”

I work in a hospital and have been on the other side where it’s my family or myself in the hospital and it’s scary. Helping that person feel safe and just talking to them and helping them know what’s going on is so huge. An example would even be a smile – you cause someone having a bad day to smile back and just maybe that is enough to make them smile at the next person, and so on and so on. It can change a person’s day just through one small act.

Name three kind humans that have positively affected you.

Here are some kind humans who brought me into the Kindhumans movement through their social media!

1. Liz Clark – I read her book and was pulled to her instantly!Love what she does for animals and the environment and she seems like such an amazing soul.

2. Yoga Girl – her honesty and kindness through her organization saving animals, her efforts towards bringing women together, her help with environmental causes, and her openness about life is inspiring.

3. My mom – I never really was close to her, but when my dad got sick, we forged a strong bond. She made me realize how kind and generous she is and that I got those qualities from her, which I love her so much for – the biggest heart in the world.
