Kindhumans Ambassador: Banyan’s Adventures

Kindhumans ambassadors lead with heart, caring for the planet and other people. Our ambassadors exemplify our core values and they act as representatives for our communities, spreading kindness everywhere they go. We are so stoked to welcome these remarkable people to our team! – KH

Tell us about yourself, Banyan!

I am a California native living in San Diego. I love to travel with my family and document our travels on YouTube. I have been doing this for 4 and a half years. I also love telling stories and learning about different things, people, and places. I love being out in nature and doing what I can to help keep it clean. Traveling to different places gives me a chance to meet a lot of people and so many of them have been kind and encouraging. This means a lot to me, and I try to do my part in adding more kindness to this world. A fun fact about me that is not widely known, is that I share my name with a pretty amazing tree. People that know about banyan trees are always stoked to hear what my name is. However, many have never heard of a banyan and what makes them so unique … some of their reactions to my name are pretty funny!

What is your definition of a kind human?

To me, a kind human is one who thinks about others, who loves the earth, and who wants to see everyone happy. They show that they care about more than just themselves.

“Kindness is infectious and when I see the kind actions of others, I want to be kind too.” Banyan

My parents have been a great example in this, and I try to surround myself with others who are kind.

Name 3 kind humans that have positively affected you.

1. Mary Beth Babcock: Mary Beth is one of the sweetest, kindest, people I have ever met on the road. She is the owner of Buck Atoms on Route 66. She knows what she wants, and her goals go far beyond her business. She promotes artists, her Tulsa community, and the rights of others (all while making life fun).

2. Michael Franti: A great musician, with an awesome message that speaks to me. Michael seems to really care about and focus on others. He has been doing stay-at-home concerts during Covid, has helped his community in Bali, and has a wish-granting nonprofit called “Do It For The Love” that brings healing through music to those who need it the most. This organization has helped more than 2,700 people with life-threatening illnesses, children with severe challenges, and wounded veterans see their favorite music artists live in concert. For one of Michael’s 2020 music videos, “How We Living”, he asked lovers of his music to send in clips and the video highlights his fans having fun. Just a small kind act that brought joy and connection to many stuck at home.

3. Matthew O’Brien: Matthew is a journalist who brought attention to the homeless issues of Las Vegas. Before his story, most people didn’t know about the tunnels under the city or that so many have had to resort to living in them. Matthew did more than just document this story, he has befriended many of these people and has been able to bring some of them out, through his “Shine A Light” foundation.
